26 Feb 2025Arctic Aviation Hub has recently become a member of the global organization Women in Aviation International (WAI). Through this membership, we strengthen our efforts to increase diversity and inspire more women to get involved in the aviation industry – a sector that is still predominantly male.
Women in Aviation International (WAI) is a nonprofit organization with the goal of promoting more women in all areas of aviation and the aerospace industry. By offering a platform for networking, mentorship, and education, WAI creates opportunities for women and girls to take a place in an industry that has long been male-dominated. The organization also works to inspire young people to consider a career in aviation and strives to be an inclusive community for all, regardless of gender or background.
“Becoming a part of Women in Aviation International feels like a natural step for us at Arctic Aviation Hub. We are committed to creating a more inclusive and sustainable aviation industry, and through our membership in WAI, we have the opportunity to drive that change. It’s about opening doors for more women to take their place in the aviation sector and inspiring the next generation to follow their dreams,” says Annelie Viksten, Business Developer at Arctic Aviation Hub.
WAI has several international chapters, and Arctic Aviation Hub has now become part of the Scandinavia Chapter, which covers all of Scandinavia and also includes members from other parts of Europe. As a partner, Arctic Aviation Hub hopes to contribute to the organization’s work in supporting and inspiring both current and future stakeholders in the aviation industry.
The Scandinavia Chapter covers a large geographical area, meaning that activities and events are organized both physically in various cities and digitally to engage a wider audience. The Swedish section of WAI also places a strong focus on collaboration and partnerships with companies and organizations to further develop its work and offerings.
“We are an organization that welcomes everyone with the same goal in sight: to make the aviation industry more inclusive. Our chapter spans across all of Scandinavia, and we are excited to have Arctic Aviation Hub as a member to continue growing and spreading our message,” says Melissa Ström, Chair of Women in Aviation International, Scandinavia Chapter.
