Our aim is to help speed up the commercialisation of sustainable aviation solutions, including electric aircraft, hydrogen drivetrains, eVTOLs and drones. In Skellefteå we can offer testbeds, power supply, winter testing facilities, a droneport, academic research, funding support and much more.

Skellefteå Airport has a 1 MW power supply dedicated for electric aircraft, eVTOL, high power charging, energy storage etc. and is top 3 in the world regarding movements with electric aircraft thanks to Green Flight Academy that are operating one of the worlds most sustainable flight academies at the airport.

The droneport, that will be ready during the first quarter 2025, is one of Europe’s largest city close droneports dedicated for test, development, education and commercialisation of drones and supporting technologies.

Collaborate with Arctic Aviation Hub

With three locations in Skellefteå and strong support from local partners, Arctic Aviation Hub can offer unique infrastructure for the development of drones, eVTOLs, battery- and hydrogen aircraft and supporting infrastructure.

We are both a place to test and develop but also a place for early commercial implementation. We can cover many of the necessary areas in the development of new technologies and we are probably one of the best places in the world to do winter testing.

The Future of Aviation and Space – Annual Conference in Skellefteå

Skellefteå hosts one of this year’s most exciting conferences on the future of aviation and space. On April 10–11, leading players will gather to dive into groundbreaking innovations in electrification, hydrogen, SAF, and the future of fighter jets. Over the course of two intensive days, participants will gain insight into the rapidly growing sector and visit some of Skellefteå’s most innovative facilities.

The development program ELIS has focused on advancing electrified aviation in Skellefteå. Now, additional investments are being made for the future of sustainable aviation, including drones, hydrogen and high-power charging, with the goal of reaching an international audience. As part of this, ELIS is changing its name to Arctic Aviation Hub.
